Not a single day pass without some people exploiting on religious issues, especially in this country. You can see the “mine is the best” syndrome wherever you go. Very common but scary and annoying at the same time.
Here is a video clip showing a conversation that took place between the honorable Dalai Lama and Brazilian theologian Leonardo Boff during an interfaith conference some years ago.
In it, the theologian asked the Dalai Lama what is the best religion in the world and was very impressed with his wise answer. Read for yourself to find out what the Dalai Lama said that earned him world-wide respect. His words will definitely bring some warmth to your heart.
In today’s world of religious intolerance and bigotry, the Dalai Lama sums it all up profoundly, that the acknowledgement of God and being close to God is an essence of man reaching towards his creator.
Truly well said, the truth sets us free. Godliness and not religiosity is the answer for the world today.
I have not been able to trace the video of this purported face to face talk between L Boff and D Lama. Despite the clip being posted on Youtube, it isn’t a video clip showing the actual discussion between these two gentlemen. Instead its a ppt file showing photos of D Lama and L Boff taken in different settings and for Boff even different shirts. The Youtube clip gave the impression that these two aired their thoughts on religion but I have not been able to find any proof that they actually carried out the conversation. As for the alleged thoughts of D Lama, I find the musings of these two gentlemen below more candid and meaningful.

Talking about the truth

D Lama allegedly said:
“Being happy is not a matter of destiny
It is a matter of options”.
He seems to contradict himself by persecuting any Tibetan that worships their saint, Dodje Shugden

Hi Lee C.H.
I too, encounter the same problem when I tried to search for the video clip of this conversation.
Thank you for the links. I have gone through each of them. As for the last one, about the DL persecution of other Tibetan sects, I am not sure whether they are the truth or simple malicious acts to discredit the DL.
But let us just give credit to him for being graceful to others by not saying “My religion is the best and yours is not” and this alone deserve our respect.
Dear LCH, many of us are quite aware of the DL’s political side – yes, he’d been in the pay of American intelligence agencies for decades – but the thoughts posted here are still interesting, whether they were his or not.
You seem to be a widely-read person, and it would be nice to read your thoughts on local politics. Regards.
Hi Larry,
My thoughts on local politics can be generalized as an intense resentment to status quo. I don’t believe I need to dwell beyond that.
Haha, Lee, based on most blogs I’ve visited, I guess BN is going to be trashed this coming election. Unless the kampong folks – those without the internet – are overwhelmingly pro-UMNO.
